A horsewalker is used to provide walking exercise for horses under a variety of circumstances. For instance it may provide gentle exercise for a horse coming back from injury or an unfit horse doing preliminary exercise.

It can also be used in the warm-down period after ridden exercise or work. The bottom line is, it can be used in any situation where a horse needs sustained walking exercise.
