Phil Harman
Phil Harman:
Phil joined Shalfleet in May of 2003, arriving from Chris Wall’s yard where he had worked as head man for almost three-and-half years.Phil has been in racing all his working life. In 1974 he was apprenticed to a trainer called Joe Carr and rode several winners before taking out a jumping license. Stints followed working for Captain Ryan Price and Nigel Tinkler before Phil moved to Newmarket where Luca Cumani employed him. He then had a spell with Francis Lee in Wilmslow before returning to Cumani.
Anthony Nowell
Anthony Nowell, Role: Head Lad
ANTHONY arrived at Shalfleet late in 2005 after a decent stint at Sir Mark Prescott’s yard. A Lancashire lad, his first employer was Geraldine Rees, whom he served for four-and-a-half years. He progressed through the ranks to second head lad there. At Shalfleet, Anthony can often be found in the bottom yards where the vast majority of the two-year-olds are stabled. There he works alongside Chris Baker to ensure the smooth day-in, day-out running of the juvenile squad. Anthony also rides out a fair few horses, still, and would be an asset to any racing operation.
David Bradley
David Bradley, Job: Assistant to Jeremy Noseda
David has worked in racing for 30 years and established an impressive CV. As well as an eight-year spell on the starting stalls, he has been employed by Michael Bell, Luca Cumani and Godolphin. It was while working as Head Lad for the Maktoum family’s racing operation that he met Jeremy. David has been at Shalfleet since 1998.
Chris Baker
Chris Baker Job: Head Man
Yorkshire lad Chris started out working with Worksop trainer Owen Brennan. While there Chris had a handful of rides – “nothing to brag about” he says! After seven years with Brennan, Chris moved on to Reg Akehurst’s yard in Epsom. He was a work rider for two years before heading up to Sean Woods’ place in Newmarket where he served for almost a decade. When Woods went East to train in Hong Kong, Chris became the main pool man at Ed Dunlop’s, swimming horses. He arrived at Shalfleet in December, 2004. He now oversees the bottom yard at Shalfleet where the majority of the two-year-olds are stabled.
Sheraz Khan
Sheraz Khan Role: Head Lad
SHERAZ came to Shalfleet at the end of 2005, bringing with him a wealth of experience. He has been in racing for about 15 years, starting out in Pakistan where he worked for a Derby-winning trainer. In 1994 he was recruited by the newly-formed Godolphin team in Dubai where he first came across Jeremy Noseda, then an assistant trainer for the Maktoum family’s racing operation. “I was lucky enough to look after some decent horses,” says Sheraz, recalling his Godolphin days. “There was Red Bishop, Bashir and Embassy. During my time with Godolphin I went racing all over the world – Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia for the Melbourne Cup.” While with the ‘Boys in Blue’, Sheraz worked as a head lad to David Loder, who oversaw their two-year-old operation for a number of seasons. So when Loder started out on his own at Egerton House, Sheraz went with him. Now he is a respected member of the Shalfleet team, having reunited with his old acquaintance Jeremy Noseda. .
Bill Mawdsley
Billy Mawdsley Job: Head Lad
Billy has been in racing for 31 years including stints with Mick Jarvis and Lord Huntington. He was head man to both Robert Williams (8yrs) and Neil Graham. Billy came to Shalfleet in 1998
John Davies

John and Jeremy go back quite some time, having first met at John Gosden’s. John is enjoying his second stint at Shalfleet, having started out here as an apprentice to Paul Kelleway.

Mark’s first season at Shalfleet was 2001. Before that he had worked at next door neighbours Stanley House Stables when John Gosden was training from there. It was at Stanley House that Mark, who worked there for 11 years, first crossed paths with Jeremy.
Wayne Tanner
Wayne Tanner Role: Head Lad
WAYNE IS one of the most experienced members of staff of Shalfleet. He has been in racing for over 30 years now, having started out with Peter Robinson back in 1975. The majority of his career was spent working for Alec Stewart. Wayne did 20 years at Clarehaven Stables, the home of many good horses through the 1980s, 1990s and early 21st century. He joined up with his current employer Jeremy Noseda at the end of 2005.
Richard Leet
Richard Leet Job: Book-keeper
Richard joined us in April 2004 after working for getting on towards 15 years in London. His previous position was with Warner Village Cinemas where he was an account manager. Before that he’d had an 11-year stint with a travel company. But Richard’s passion had long been horseracing when in 2004 he decided to up sticks and move to Cambridgeshire with a view to developing his own business around his hobby. Hence, Jeremy Noseda Racing became his key client, while he has also successfully built up Richard Leet Book-Keeping Services in other directions. He has become a popular figure at Shalfleet, often enjoying some rich banter with the natives. As for his favourite Noseda-trained horse, Richard long admired Just James and he currently has a soft spot for La Chunga.
Kim Leet
Kim Leet Job: Racing Secretary
Kim Leet joined the Shalfleet team at the start of 2006, working in the office as Jeremy Noseda’s racing secretary. Kim’s dedication to her job is second to none, something that is recognised by her boss and all that work in the yard. She is an excellent multi-tasker, somehow managing to juggle a 101 different things at once. Kim combines a friendly outlook with a real professionalism. She came with plenty of experience, having worked for two other Newmarket trainers after being employed as a ‘PA’ in London. If Kim does find five minutes to grab a brief break from her desk, she will often walk around the stables - and is more likely than not to be located outside one of the boxes of her favourite trio, Sander Camillo, Rahiyah and Simply Perfect.
Tom Morley
Tom Morley: Second Assistant
Tom completed the Darley Flying Start scholarship programme in July 2007 and came and joined the team at Shalfleet immediately after the course had finished. Prior to this Tom has been Pupil Assistant to both Ed Dunlop and Andrew Balding as well as working for the yearling division at Watership Down Stud. He has worked for JSC, a London sports marketing agency and has a BA in History from Newcastle University. He has vet nursing and farrier qualifications as well as completing his NVQ Level 3. Outside of racing Tom is an avid Spurs fan and loves to travel.
