Abe Lincoln returns to winning ways

ABE Lincoln secured the second win of his career last night when he landed a seven furlong novice race at Wolverhampton.

The lightly-raced five-year-old returned to action last month and was third at Chelmsford.

He built on that yesterday when securing a neck success in the hands of jockey Kieran Shoemark.

Proven in the past over a mile, as expected the son of Discreet Cat did all his best work in the closing stages.

Shoemark brought Paul and Susan Roy’s horse with a strong late run to make sure he justified his favourite’s tag.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda said: “Abe Lincoln had only won once before in his life so it was important to get him back on the winning trail.

“Last night’s trip was on the short side for him but his class carried him through.

“We’ll stick to the all-weather next and probably step him up to a mile and a quarter.”
