Betty F back to her best

BETTY F returned to winning ways with a strong performance in a seven-furlong novices’ race at Doncaster on Friday.

The Frankel filly has been highly tried since winning on her debut at Newmarket’s July Course last summer.

Last time out she contested the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot, while she also ran in the Cheveley Park Stakes at the end of last season.

Her latest assignment looked easier on paper but it still needed a stirring effort from Betty F to emerge victorious.

Held up by Danny Tudhope through the opening exchanges, she was asked to step up and deliver with just over a quarter of a mile to travel.

The 2/1 shot closed to sit second approaching the final furlong in which she mastered Right Direction before running on to score by a length.

It was a second career success for Charles Fox and Ben Wilson’s homebred who is out of Instance, a smart racehorse herself when trained by Jeremy Noseda a few seasons back.

Noseda said: “It was a good performance from the filly and I’m absolutely delighted for her owners who are staunch supporters of the stable.”
