Gronkowski shines in Chelmsford win

GRONKOWSKI gave a commanding performance to win a mile novices’ event for trainer Jeremy Noseda at Chelmsford last night.

The Lonrho colt responded well to the application of first-time blinkers and also to an initial outing on the polytrack.

He had previously finished second at Newmarket, having made his debut at Newbury in September.

Jockey Sean Levey was sat second after a quarter of a mile and travelled smoothly before asserting with two furlongs to go.

The 4/1 shot had the race in the bag in the closing stages, powering away to score by four and a half lengths for owners Phoenix Throughbred Limited.
