Progressive Gronkowski scores again

GRONKOWSKI showed he is a horse on an upward curve with a smooth success in a mile novice stakes at Newcastle last night.

The Lonrho colt, owned by Phoenix Thoroughbred Limited, made all to follow up his victory at Chelmsford in November.

He justified his odds-on favourite’s tag in the three-runner race in the hands of jockey Jamie Spencer.

There was never a moment’s concern for connections as the progressive Gronkowski did everything right in winning by six lengths.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda said: “I was more than happy with his run.

“He’s an improving horse with talent and a great temperament who will stay further.

“We have a plan in mind. The time when we’ll know whether it’s realistic or not will be after his next race which will be a mile conditions race at Kempton on March 1.”
