Quargent triumphs at Kempton

QUARGENT continued a good week for trainer Jeremy Noseda when winning a seven-furlong fillies' novice stakes at Kempton last night.

The Marc Keller-owned daughter of War Front stepped up markedly on her debut display in mid-July at Newmarket, scoring nicely in the hands of jockey Jamie Spencer.

She justified her tag as the odds-on favourite by travelling smoothly in the slipstream of the early leader before being asked to challenge inside the final quarter of a mile.

With a sustained run, Quargent hit the front inside the final furlong and was going away as she hit line, victorious by a length and three quarters.

It was Shalfleet's second two-year-old winner in 48 hours after Lansky struck at Windsor on Monday evening.
