Stakes test for Shalfleet fillies

TRAINER Jeremy Noseda will saddle two Shalfleet runners in Stakes races at Newmarket tomorrow and Saturday.

Newmarket debut winner Betty F will step up into Group 1 company when she contests the Cheveley Park Stakes over six furlongs on Saturday. It’s set to be the second run of her career.

Jeremy said: “Betty F will be ridden by Pat Smullen. She is in good order and worked well on the racetrack last week.

“We’re stepping into the unknown ground-wise if it’s on the easy side. But her mum handled that well, so I’m hopeful that she will too. I’m sure she’ll be very competitive.”

La Figlia, second on her debut at Kempton, will line up 24 hours earlier for the 1m Listed Rosemary Stakes and jockey Frankie Dettori is booked to ride.

Jeremy said: “It is a huge step up in class for La Figlia but she is a filly I really like. I’m sure she has quality and I expect her to run a really solid race, in spite of entering into Stakes company on her second start as a maiden.

“I’m a little unsure as to how she would handle the possibility of easy ground but I’m hopeful that she will.”
