Winning Ways in Group 3 action at HQ

WINNING Ways makes a swift return to action tomorrow when he’ll contest the Group 3 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket.

The Lope De Vega colt was in mid-division in last Wednesday’s Jersey Stakes where a couple of factors may have had an impact on his chance.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda said: “I felt the ground didn’t really suit him on the day. But I have been happy with him since his return from Royal Ascot.

“He should be suited by the good ground at Newmarket tomorrow and I would be hoping for a good show.

“He is taking on the older horses for the first time. But he gets the weight-for-age allowance and I feel it’s the right time for three-year-olds to start taking on their elders.”

There’s an eight-strong field – including last year’s winner Breton Rock – for the seven-furlong Group 3.
